3 months later...

Instead of posting each idea on it's own I am going to jumble it all up for you.  Life is busy.  There you go that is all there is to it.  Honestly, that is my sole reason for not posting a thing for the last 3 months despite all the chaos to tell.

Lil' Miss turns 2

I should really work on my detailed stories but for now enjoy how quickly I through together the last 3 months.  My full time commitment is raising my girls and managing my home.  But my passion beyond my children has consumed my extra time as a film producer.  Sorry to my faithful followers for being forgotten.

If you write it down it will come true

I believe this is true, when you write down a goal it will come true.

So I am here to write a promise to myself and family the following:

When potty training is all over with my Lil' Miss, we will begin planning a family trip somewhere that involves getting a stamp in our passport.

There I said therefore it will come true.

Airplane Travel

Some of you might know that I was anxious beyond normal for the upcoming flight across the country to Atlanta. I was flying by myself with a 3 year old, 11 month old walker, double stroller, carry-on suitcase, diaper bag, and purse. Well, I survived a plane trip across the country with me and the kids. Here is how I made it and didn't lose my mind (or a kid) along the way.

  • Prepare carry-on luggage for security checkpoint - I put all the snacks and baby food in a ziploc bag to put on belt alone to disclose
  • Bring DVD movie player, crayons, paper, and toddler friendly books
  • Pick a layover length that allows for time to eat and find a kid friendly play area
  • Stroller and ErgoBaby carrier --- I was able to get baby to sleep in ErgoBaby to leave me handsfree and relaxed while on the plane and use the stroller as an extra set of hands for me
  • Most important --- small lollipops for airplane descent when cabin pressure changes the most
Now wish me patience for the trip back home next week. Or leave me your tips and lessons learned.

The Secret of Two

A couple months back a good friend of mine just had her second child, she asks me, "Dom, you are going to have to tell me the secret of two". My gut reaction was to chuckle, as if I knew the secret of having two kids. At the time my oldest was 2 1/2 years old and youngest was a mere 3 months old.

Had I really figured out the secret of two?

In the last three months my life had been an adventure, to say the least. We had traveled to the San Francisco Zoo, boating on Camanche Lake, Monterey Bay Aquarium, so to say we didn't miss a beat in our lives while Amaya, the baby, just rolled with it. But that's no secret to live your life doing the things that bring you joy. But that is easy to say, and not a very good answer.

The free-spirited me constantly worries if I am fulfilling my role as mom the best way I can. What can I teach my children today? Have I learned all the nursery rhyme songs? What am I going to feed them? Who needs a nap? How long has Nick Jr been on this morning? When can i take a shower? What are the kids going to do while I take a shower? What is the weather? What are we going to wear? Are we going to have enough playtime?

Not all my questions get answered nor am I able to get it all perfect. Some days my toddler will have meltdowns, some days I will, some days we will do nothing but lay around telling silly nonsensical stories. It doesn't really matter all the time if the toys didn't get picked up or if no one went to bed on time. Relax and breathe, it'll all work out in the end.

I answered, "patience".
